Ensemble playing and accompaniment. Jazz pieces in blues and rounded ternary form. Designed for the jazz studies emphasis in the music degree. Course Objectives The student will: Play piano pieces in the AABA and blues form. Play jazz scales including, but not limited to: Be bop major, Be bop dorian, be bop Mixo Lydian, Minor blues, half dimished, Lydian mode, harmonic minor, Lydian dominant, pentatonic. Utilize common jazz chord progressions (ii7, V7, I7). Compose melodies and harmonize them in the jazz style. Play ensemble music and/or accompaniment. Analyze and discuss jazz compositions.
